SFZP
Sforzpiano. An expressive dynamic marking in a score, indicating a sforzando followed immediately by piano, commonly used by Ludwig van Beethoven.
We are proud to announce our collaboration with The American Classical Orchestra, which has recently launched the Sfzp Project, a three-year initiative designed to amplify awareness of the fortepiano.
Through a fortepiano competition, master classes, and concert presentations, the Sfzp Project intends to raise the listening public’s interest in and appreciation of the fortepiano’s unique qualities, in New York City and beyond.
The Sfzp Project will run in three cycles:
-
Cycle I, 2019 – Early Classical Period: W.A. Mozart, Domenico Scarlatti, Johann Christian Bach, C.P.E. Bach, and Josef Haydn
-
Cycle II, 2020 – Beethoven, Cramer, and Dussek
-
Cycle III, 2021 – Romantic Period
The finals of the second competition are scheduled to take place in March 2020, in New York City. Prizes include performance opportunities and cash awards.
All finalists will receive full scholarships to attend the Academy of Fortepiano Performance 2020.
